Leadership lessons with… horses

Hard to believe, isn’t it? And still, certain lessons of leadership we can receive from those who show it in native way. Horses can teach us to feel better with ourselves, to exceed our timidity and anxiety and to explore our leadership potential.

Non-verbal therapy

It’s more than necessary to visit the Herd Topper from Tancabesti, whether you are a manager or simply… parent. There you will see how some beautiful horses transform you in better managers of family or company.

Even in better parents, because from a well-trained horse you can learn how to lead, using the non-verbal language, your own employees and also stubborn children.

Recommended specialists

Toine Kets and Helga Meurs are the two nice Dutch trainers who developed this program called The Horse Connection. Toine is a nice Dutch man who initially studied chemistry and afterwards became interested in Chemistry between people.

Helga is a real "horse whisperer", she can communicate non-verbally through the smallest signals with her beautiful horses. She graduated in 2004 a course of horse behavior specialist and behavioral therapy, afterwards she became horse riding instructor.

Helga execute the exercises and Toine observes them and gives feedback to the participants. Also, Helga works with special schools implementing recovery programs for children with development problems.

She is the one that brings closer mature people and children with these glorious creatures and full of personality that inhibit you at first sight, but you see them infinitely gentle and full of humor as soon as you go near them and learn to understand their behavior.

Coaching with horses

Toine says that he uses the coaching method "see, feel, change", which helps people to see. Fascinating situations, dramatically attractive are designed to help the others to visualize the problem and its solutions.

He says that lazy people start becoming leaders and leaders are going forward. His most recent projects in Romania are: coaching for executive leaders, team coaching, leadership skills development. And all these using the horses.

This program has been successfully implemented in the Netherlands, Greece, Poland, Germany, Serbia and Ukraine. Following this program, a simple manager knows what to do to become a leader.

It’s simple to become leader

How so? Well, to give a task to a horse you must have a certain non-verbal language, you must dominate him, but not so much as to be aggressive.

Also horses have different personalities, some of them are really stubborn. You must manage to dominate them using the look and the position of the body.

This type of training is extremely useful to learn to communicate non-verbally with difficult persons or even with small children who still do not understand the conceptual discipline and they will behave well only if they are dominated.

Therefore, middle managers or fresh parents, if you have time, go to a training with Toine, Helga and the adorable mare… Carmen.
